September 12th

is playing a Hurricane Katrina relief show at Tommy G's in Champaign. There are
a bunch of other local bands on the bill as well, so stop on by and rock your ass off for a good benefit. We may even have Bryce
wrestle an alligator to raise some more money. Heck, we'll probably do that just for fun...
There is a motorcycle show from Noon-1pm, then the rock starts at 1. The lineup is:

The WEFT show went great last night - thanks to those that sat in at the
studio and pretended to drink Busch Light with us, including K-Dub, Hubert,
Seth, Fleetwood Jack, and Adam Wolfe. Third Stone is set to be on the Rock
95.3 FM this thursday afternoon, stay tuned for details! Also, the DVDs
are in - check out the cover on the Pictures
page.
April 28th
The DVD is out the door and should be in our hands within the week. Also,
we got the word that there will be an article in the May 4th Accent on the
reunion show - look for it!
April 21st
New pictures posted - check it out! All photos
are part of a shoot by local photographer and Third Stone pal Brad Daniels,
at one of our favorite local hang-outs, Tommy
G's.
April 13th
We did an interview with Seth Fein (of Absinthe Blind, the Oprhans, and
the Headlights fame) for the Buzz this past weekend, so be looking for that
article as the show approaches. Seth totally grilled us, but I think a few
well placed Andrew Jackson's will ensure that the embarassing stuff doesn't
make it to print. Remember, as Derrick Smalls used to say, "Perfection is
the goal. Imprefection is the journey."
April 5th
Third Stone will appear on WEFT Sessions on local radio station 90.1 WEFT
Monday, May 9th, at 10pm. This hour long interview and live performance
will leave many in the community and the FCC stunned when they realize the
sheer magnitude of heavy metal power Third Stone desires to bring to the
reunion show at the Canopy Club.
April 4th
Filming on the Third Stone Documentary wrapped yesterday. This will be released
as a 10 minute bonus track on the new DVD. You will learn things about Third
Stone you never knew were true when you watch this - believe me!
March 27th
Pariah is confirmed as another opening band for the show. The bill for the
show is now Sick Day, Pariah, Lidlifter, and those handsome devils Third
Stone. This brings the metal level of the show to a full 2 fists.
March 13th
Saturday, May 14th at The Canopy Club - local band THIRD STONE will reunite
for one performance only. Please dress appropriately. A DVD featuring old
concert footage, a rockumentary on the band, photos, behind the scenes buffoonery,
and more will be released at this show.
History:
The first band to sign to CU indie label Hammerhead Records in 1992, Third Stone shared the Hammerhead Records roster with Caine's Fable, Absinthe Blind, Free Range Chicken, The Bludgers, Swoon, The Blackouts, and more. Third's Stone's debut release "The Stuff" (1992) was well received nationally by both college radio stations and mainstream rock stations, and reached 71 on the CMJ's Loud Rock Report. Third Stone also got national attention with articles and reviews in many industry magazines such as Hit Parader and Kerrang.
The band toured in almost every state in the U.S., playing with such national acts as Tool, Quiot Riot, L.A. Guns, the band that became Saliva, Mudvayne, The Urge, The Blue Meanies and countless other local, regional and nationally touring bands of the day. Their song "AfterBirth" received worldwide radio play on nationally syndicated radio station Z-Rock. A second album, "Hack," (1995) followed shortly thereafter, and the band resumed its relentless touring and promotion, as Hammerhead Records secured national distribution at this time, and the director of regional Best Buy stores featured the band in its special local music promotions.
The band officially disbanded in 1998, but Third Stone reunited in 1999 to participate in a battle of the bands in which the winner would have the opportunity to open for Motley Crue at the U of I's Assembly Hall. The band maintained their career undefeated status in Battle of the Bands contests, and went on to open for the Crue in February, 1999. Other notable credits to Third Stone include having the video for their song RDA featured in the low budget indie horror flick "The Garbage Man," as well as the song "Afterbirth" being picked up for the soundtrack of the movie "12 Bucks".
Today, members of Third Stone remain active in the local and regional live music scene. Some of the bands that the members of Third Stone have been and/or are members of include X-Krush, The Brat Pack, Two Rivers, Sick Day, Space Mod, and many more.
